I have registered for the “CONQUER NF IN COLOUR - SYDNEY” event at Wentworth Park, Glebe, on Sunday, November 24, 2024. This event is profoundly meaningful to me as it seeks to raise awareness about neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disorder that has significantly affected my family. My sister, Charity, was diagnosed with NF at the age of five. Her incredible bravery in facing numerous hospital visits and surgeries, while also enduring the challenges posed by those who may not fully understand her condition, highlights the daily struggles faced by her and many others. Charity’s resilience inspires me to advocate passionately for individuals affected by NF and to support research efforts aimed at finding a cure.

I will be running 10km for the 1 in 5 children with NF who will develop a brain tumour; for the kids or adults who will lose their hearing or sight this year; for the kids who can’t run, walk or play like other children and for those who have lost loved ones to this condition.

EVERY 3 DAYS A CHILD IS BORN WITH NF IN AUSTRALIA, AND THEY WILL NEED A LIFETIME OF SUPPORT.

NF is a lifelong genetic condition that causes tumours to form around nerves, under the skin and deep in the body. Progressive and unpredictable, these tumours can lead to physical differences, vision and hearing impairments, learning difficulties, chronic pain, and scoliosis and even cancer.

There is no cure and treatment options are limited.

I have a goal to raise $2000 to support the Children's Tumour Foundation and their vision of a life without limitations for everyone living with NF.

Please help me reach my goal by making a tax-deductible donation

Neurofibromatosis is a hard word to say, but even harder to live with.
